Asp.net 3.5

I know the guys in support are snowed under at the moment, but I was just wondering if someone can tell me when we could expect to see ASP.NET 3.5 appearing on our VPS’s. I was at the UK launch of Visual Studio 2008 yesterday, and there are some neat features in the 3.5 framework that I would like to take advantage of.

There is not going to be 3.5 installed on the VPSes by the Windows Updates that I can see.

3.5 must be installed individually in each VPS.

That sounds like hard work. Is this something we have to do, because if it is, I don't think I want to risk breaking anything. I would like 3.5, but only if its easy.

I have followed the link and I am in the process of installing the ASP.NET 3.5 Framework at this very moment. Thinking ahead however; In Plesk when you setup a new website you only get the opportunity to enable ASP.NET 1.0 or 2.0 don’t you? How will I tell it that I want to enable 3.5 for a website?

Installation seems to have gone smoothly. I have just tested my ASP.NET 2.0 apps and they seem to be working without being affected in any way. I am now going to try and create an ASP.NET 3.5 site to see if it has worked, and will report back here with my findings.

I am totally shocked!! It works!! It just works. I can’t believe how easy that was. I followed the link that Stephen posted above, ran the install, wrote some test 3.5 AJAX content, uploaded it to one of the websites hosted on my VPS and; OMG it just worked. Totally problem free, and now I have the easiest AJAX development environment on the planet ( Visual Studio 2008 ) creating AJAX content that runs on my excellent value for money JodoHost VPS. I am well landed. All you ASP.NET 2.0 VPS developers do not hesitate. Install the 3.5 Framework as soon as possible, you are going to love it!
