Blackberry Phones

I'm not very familiar with how blackberry phones work so these are probably common sense questions.

1) Do I have to do anything special on my VPS so the phones can connect to the mail server?

2) or is that something I have to configure within hMailServer?

I have heard you can set the phones up to use IMAP, which I wouldn't believe to be a problem.

They can use IMAP fine.

We've found that they can also abuse IMAP with 100's of open connections for just a single email address too but that is another matter.

Is that where I need to set hMailServer to only allow so many connections? Right now it's set to unlimited (which probably isn't good).

Is there a better way to limit the phones?

ok then you may see a lot of connections from a RIM blackberry but it will work.

Will that cause problems though?

I could always try to set a number in that field so only so many people can be connected at once. Unless I'm misunderstanding the SMTP connections.

SMTP won't matter much. They gobble up the IMAP sessions from multiple severs to poll for new mail to send to the device.

As long as you are not having dozens of blackberry users it will be fine.
