Can't send mail on mail4

Don’t use a catchall:)
Use aliases for known mistakes and useful addresses.

Could you explain that a bit more??? Thanks!

Hello, Dan.

Unfortunately, I didn’t noticed that the forum changed the address to the topic. The right one is http://support.jodohost.com/showthread.php?t=8738

To your questions:

  1. You could tell your ISP to solve these entries, so that a Reverse DNS check returns a correct answer, not a loop. Unfortunately, I’m not in the position to do this in my case, because the provider that I and most of my customers use, is one of the biggest nation-wide providers, and, of course, they don’t answer to such “insignificant” requests.
  2. Yes, it can. I’m almost sure of that. As you will see in that topic I’m having this issue only when I’m on these misconfigured (“looping”) IP addresses, establishing SMTP sessions to mail servers hosted by Jodo. tanmaya gave me the idea to use a SSL connection from the email client, and it worked - no time-outs. But this also is not a solution, because my customers would have to accept a security warning (the SSL certificate is issued for the mailx.m****here.biz server, not for mail.mydomain.com) every time they want to send emails.

I only hope that the technical staff will come very soon with a solution for us.

As mentioned in other threads, the use of catchall mailboxes is like an invitation for spam, if you have a need to “catch” emails sent to other useful addresses, then make multiple aliases. For example [email protected], [email protected].

Then mail sent to [email protected] would bounce back to the spammer, as well as use less account resources.

Thanks! Any benefit to multiple aliases rather than multiple mailboxes?

You only need to maintain one mailbox, just as if you were using a catchall.

Correct, it must be some virus infected computer where you email was in address book. Or you domain was picked from listing/post/etc. There are many other ways as well.

As manopb correctly said it is catch-all. You are inviting more “backscatter”. Not to mention more spam.

Enable SPF for your domain. But it is not 100% gurantee to fix since it is still to see wide-spread implementation. Everyone is going his own ways aganist spam.

These bounces are not related to your issue.

I’ll certainely look for some alternative/custom solution for your problems, give me a some time on this.

Thank you. I have got it. No need for a reminder.

Tech count who replied doesnt says they are the ones who investigated or worked on your issue. They tell you the issue is being worked on. It was a general consensus between our customers that they should get some reponse between ticket creation and problem resolution, so one is sure the ticket is being worked on. It would have been early if you were on chat as requested earlier. Deepak made me aware you had a chat with him. I’ll talk to him on his findings and then look at some solution for those affected due to this rDNS issue(as it still looks to me).

If possible, can you give a try again with an IP which doesnt have such rDNS loops. It worked for Cosinus in his second try, so it seems worthwhile to give another try.

Lastly, we defend if the situation is being half-judged and statements are being made out of it. Otherwise we do mention and make an apology for our mistakes.

Ok, tanmaya, two months after this I want to remind you on our problem (this thread and http://support.jodohost.com/mail-control-panel/8738-re-sending-receiving-email-veeeeeery-slow.html) .

Sending trough SSL works randomly - I didn’t manage to figure out a rule.

Please help!
