2 month ago …“It looks backup is killing all. We will be adding another hard drive to move backups on other drive and will not make I/O load on server.” …
And now back up again!
So not the sports site?
…“a temporary heavy demand on a sports site that is making this”… Lucky us it’s not a porn site.
Say this server goes down do we or don’t have a back up of our data?
So after a week we are not even sure what it is that causes all this downtime?
Backups have changed, but the old one was also running at the same time to have double the backups. I have directed the staff at night to STOP doing the 2nd backup as it is causing this in most cases, that is why it keeps happening while I sleep. (or try to sleep!)
I am checking 3 sites regularly, all of them on mssql11, and not seeing it this time at all. One of the sites gets stuck if any timeout or slowdown happens, and the pool has to be recycled, if it happens to ANY visitor, and it has not done this recently(since the last reboot)
I have found one URL giving an error, but not a server error, something in code is wrong giving this:
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Conversion failed when converting the varchar value ‘B’ to data type smallint.
hi, this is other aplication error - I have some alerts when I get timeout error and I’m getting some timeouts right now. I have sent the URL to monitorize in the ticket
Are you not getting our ticket replies? Your site is EXTREMELY sensitive to any anything, and we have offered a solution. We are monitoring other sites and simply not having the same problems. We’ve explained this all to you multiple times in ticket as well.
Yes, I’m getting your ticket replies? are you getting my ticket replies? I’m reading your ticket replies, but I write in this forum always that ticket answer doesn’t resolve the issue.
To execute a select in a database never can be called EXTREMELY sensitive , sorry but this COMPLETELY WRONG.
My website is “sensitive” because the data server some times work fine and others is overloaded by others websites (as you and your team has said a lot of times).
About to move database to other server, I haved asked if I will have the guarantee this issue will not reproduced in other mssql server, but I have not answer about it in my ticket.
As you said in other ticket to me , I am dedicating many hours ( = many money) to this issue that is not from my application , it is a tipical system issue. I’m trying to help you to solve it sending every error I get from my website, but the issue never is resolved in a definitively way (this issue has lasted for more than 2 months)
It is clear that the only fix is to migrate to other mssql server and pray that this does not happen again or not sports websites on the same server
No the way your site is setup we cannot guarantee it won’t timeout, there is no abuse on mssql11 today and still you are getting timeouts. I have not seen timeouts anywhere else. It would be foolish of us to guarantee never to have timeouts, it isn’t something that we can do, we do not control your code, we control the server, and right now the server is not having systemwide issues it would be posted as such if it were. We have offered to move it as a courtesy to you, and we need an answer on that.
