I’ve now had three clients contact AT&T directly and explain their circumstances - they use AT&T as their ISP and can not access their own website because of AT&T’s irrational abuse policy/reaction.
I also gave them some of the details - the fact that many domains/websites exist at a single IP, so blocking an IP causes a lot of unnecessary collateral damage…maybe enough internal complaints will get things moving.
Hoping web16 is in the clear soon, just learned that web13 is now blocked by the same att guys. Really distracting, but doing some things we needed to do anyway (removing malware off peoples sites), just wish they’d communicate before blocking.
Still no luck on Web16…
I’m sure the moment I start moving servers they’ll fix it!

When I first moved to this area there was a PrimeStar dish at every house - it was basically PrimeStar for television (no cable) and ATT for phone service. I was able to get one of the first ISDN lines from ATT (Bellsouth at that point) - blew dial up away!
Even today cable is VERY limited here (and obviously no fiber) - all the satellite companies have saturated the market so much that cable won’t even come out to build infrastructure.
Thanks for keeping on them - I did try to get my customers to complain to ATT about their policy and procedures…there are some service alternatives, so maybe their sales people will have some input on their network operations stuff!
I did ISDN with Verizon, and service from WorldScum (worldcom) before they went out of business back when I lived in rural west central Texas with family(was a minor, but had a business)
I offered IRC shell accounts off of it with dual channel ISDN as my ‘backbone’ it was pretty good business back then, I had a shelf with 5 servers for running, and really enjoyed those days. But they soon got crazy, DDOS ridden and wild.
I’ve never really told people my background here. I started very young in IT, had a business with my mother at age 12, doing consulting and cash work before then but it got to be too much for me alone. I started working for JodoHost freelance over 9 years ago, and quickly they pulled me into full time, and now more.
I turn 30 this year, celebrating by buying what is technically my 2nd home, but only the first to buy, I built the first one on land provided by my family, and recently sold it to become a city park. Now working to ‘buy’ my first home, settle down and stop being ‘married’ to JodoHost, and work on having a family at some point!
Good job finding someone in AT&T who knows what a server is. The person I spoke to was very impressed that I knew big words like ‘IP address’ while they were busy telling me to remove my virus checker and turn my PC off and on again. My sites were accessible again here on Sunday. (Yes, I probably was connected to wifi on the Sprint mobile, I didn’t realise it was doing that automatically when in range.)
Noooo… this is not acceptable. I strongly urge you resist this irrational impulse. You wouldn’t like it, anyhow. Servers are much more reliable than kids. I’ve certainly never had to take one to choir practice at 8am on a Saturday, for one thing. I can certainly loan you a couple if you’d like to play taxi driver for the next 10 years or so, which seems to be all I do these days.

It does have support for a metal roof on it as well. I’d considered putting a recliner up there and calling it my outdoor office.
This would look a little odd for someone with no kids, but I guess, I can just explain, it came with the house.
I thought that was barbed wire for a second… that’s one way to keep the kids under control, but at least it’s got power! You could fit a couple of servers in there no problem. I would make sure you get a home inspection. The last owner’s DIY skills may have been misused elsewhere…

just a note, that playset is REALLY well built.
A home inspection is the first thing I would always do, before wasting any more time. It gives you more leverage when talking about price, for one thing.
Before you do that, though, web15 isn’t responding… It’s been flakey for a while, in fact. My little monitor script gets more slow responses from that server than anything else.
I didn’t see this upon posting, but web15 is up and going well here now.
