AWStats : Refresh?

Is it possible to refresh AWStats for example, in the middle of the day? I notice it only refreshes in the beginning of the day, at 00:01 AM to be precise, but I'd like to follow up on my visitors a bit better ...
Is this possible? Very probable that I'm missing a button or so ...

Regards,
Niels

Perhaps this has got something to do with the problems of AWStats from the past? Or is this normal?

Regards,
Niels

AWStats wont do anything more if you refresh it because this new hsphere log plugin only generates the log daily, even if hourly is selected. This issue has already come up once and is quite a pain.

Can we get a resolution to this issue? This original post is from almost a year ago...surely PSoft/H-Sphere has had enough complaints about this to have found some sort of work around.

As you mentioned Stephen this is a pain.

If we can't have "AllowToUpdateStatsFromBrowser" turned on because of a security bug in H-Sphere, then there has got to be some other way.... as long as there is "will".

Actually, the allow updates from browser option is not an hsphere bug, it is a massive bug that allows remote execution of files, on every control panel.

Many places have disabled that function now for that reason.

We got a request to allow for 2 updates a day, and are seeing if that is going to be possible or not now.

Thanks Stephen,

A refresh once at the beginning of the North American business day, and then again at the end of the day would seem to make sense to me, and then again at midnight if you wish. This way you could review stats for the previous night in the morning and review stats for the day near the end of the day.

8am EST, 6pm EST and midnight??? Would that work for everyone else? I know it would work for me.

Thanks again for your help with this.

We are discussing this, we believe 2 times a day would be possible, but not sure about 3, as the server loads go up quite a bit during the perl processing time, as well as a large number of DNS queries.

What would something like midnight and 5-7pm(would like to know whats best) get a response like? Or if two times, would 12/12 be better?

I don't know who else is reading this thread but that would get a thumbs up from me. :] Anytime between 5pm and 7pm is fine... but 5pm is probably better for those on EST.

I like the midnight and 5-7 option. Of course 2 times a day is better than 1 for this. I don't like 12 noon because that is when I get most visitors. (lunchtime lookies!) If it slows processors during this time it wouldn't be such a great thing.

It has not happened yet. Please send a ticket addressed to me and I will discuss this in more details with you.

The patch we applied last skips sites that start to hang awstats, we can look at manually updating your awstats, but will need to have a ticket with all the details to do so.

I allready submitted a user ticket with the details and did not receive a response that indicated that the problem was fixed. The support specialist noted that AWStats was manually updated but it did not work. I keep records within my DB on some traffic details so I know for a fact that I received traffic over the past couple of days yet AWstats indicates 0 visitors for 5/2. How can a site start to "hang" AWstats?

The automated running of AWstats is dependent upon the metabase, the slightest inperfection will cause it to hang, but if they ran it manually, it should be running, I would recommend turning it off, then back on, as it sounds like the config file is not working properly.

Hi Stephen,

I will try to turn off and then on the AWStats. However, I don't know how this will retrieve my missing data for May 1 & 2. Do you? It looks like the last manual build has worked for today but it has not recovered the missing data for the past couple of days. How can this information be retrieved?

Hrm, you could manually download the logs if you wanted, I will see if I can force AWStats to run for previous days, but I don't think I can.
