Opinions wanted....chat software

I am looking to implement some kind of low-cost/free chat solution on my website, Can be:

- Java
- Flash
- Whatever

Just looking for some ideas.

There is a free Flash chat program at www.pipey.com. It seems to work pretty good, as long as you don't have a lot of users on at the same time. Supports multiple rooms, different templates for its look and feel are available, and supports admin stuff. It needs a bit more work but the author has unfortunately not updated it in a long time. Easy to set up and try out though.
