I'm not a system admin expertise, but I don't like way to refresh new drive on the raid, because at the end our customer have no pop service during 7 hours.

In theory, raid is to avoid this, to avoid stop a service and avoid to lost data. The second objective is ok, but not stop the service. If we have RAID system is to not stop service for data issue, at least not to stop for 7 hours.

At the end the customers only see that during 7 hours the can not receive any mail.

I'm sure jodohost technical team will know how to improve this.
 
When a RAID array rebuilds there is very heavy I/O activity. We ook down pop3 but let smtp and webmail running so the server could still function normally (send receive email) during the rebuild.

Pop3 would have put alot of load. when the rebuild was finished, we re-enabled pop3
