IMPORTANT: Win5 Scheduled Migration

Starting Time: 8PM EDT(GMT-4)
Date: Friday, July 6th, 2007
Reason: Move from Windows 2000 to Windows 2003 with ASP.NET 2.0

We will begin migrating Win5 to a new hardware and software platform on Friday July 6th at 8PM. We will utilize Hsphere user migration tools to migrate each user one at a time. This will result in a slower more planned migration and allow us to move SSL certificates and ASP.NET settings as before they go live on the new server.
Win5 was the is the lone Windows 2000 server left installed, this version is now to a very limited support state from Microsoft and must be moved to a new server. The server that accounts are being moved to is a Quad Core Intel Xeon, Windows 2003 Standard, with a 3ware SATA2 RAID Hard Disk array. This server has more processing power than the current win5 with only dual Xeon CPUs. In addition ASP.NET 2.0 will be installed and available to users that are moved, after the move has been completed.
We will move users according to username, starting with 0-9, and going down from a to z.
Friday at 8PM we plan to start with 0 and go to though all usernames down to E(not including users with E).
We will focus on the needs of these clients via ticket and livechat, and we do not foresee major issues with the user migrations.

Saturday at Noon, we will plan to continue moving accounts and start with E and go through O(not including O).

Sunday will at 6am, Start with O and finish all accounts remaining.
This schedule is a bit fluid and may change depending on how well the moves progress and how fast all files transfer, with the method we are using if there is need for any delay it will not hinder those that have been moved, and will not cause any problem for those that have not moved yet.
While the move is in progress the sites will work on both servers, and after 24 hours all DNS should be pointing to the new server, with all sites and services up on the new server.

We will make all efforts to export any SSL Certificates that you may have installed, but they may require a manual re-installation if the export does not succeed.
Any FTP Subaccounts you may have submitted for technical support will need to be manually recreated by our staff, if you know you have FTP Sub Accounts needing setup on the new server, it would be good to include the details in a ticket before the move takes place.

We look forward to providing you with excellent service during this migration and if you have any questions feel free to ask in the forums(if not a private question) or via ticket.

This notice will be going out to all clients/resellers over the weekend. This is all one server being moved, it has multiple names within the control panel also called Win1 and Win4, but they were the same server, this was due to some configuration changes many years ago.

I just need to add one note to this, I noticed that in mailing notices I did not mail our direct clients accidentally, therefore only clients that are on reseller accounts and had 1 weeks notice will be migrated. Shared(direct) clients on shared hosting plans will be moved NEXT weekend, with a the same schedule, only dates changed.

the moves are completed except for about 5 that had some issues with DNS prefixing or transfer of content. prefixing errors and said they were conflicting.

This means, they have been around since before Hsphere but the username_ in from of the DSN, then they are just in the form of dsnname, upon moving them Hsphere is saying they have duplicates, so we are working to resolve this on those handful of accounts.

Problems in transfer of content may mean some filenames with foreign characters or multiple spaces that windows handles initially, but doesn't move across network with rsync properly.

The shared moves are not working properly now, they are nt progressing along as they should with some rather small domains remaining in content transfer for now over 24 hours. We are investigating and will proceed to continuing the move as it is resolved.

We found the issue and accounts are moving along again at a good pace now, a bit behind schedule however.

Moves have sped on along well today. one issue may come up with shared ssl, if your shared ssl is not working submit a ticket and we will immediately finish the transfer and enable the hsphere control panel for you to be able to disable and re-enable shared ssl to fix the matter.
