My database-driven web site has gotten progressively slower and unresponsive over the course of the last 4 weeks, and I am trying to determine if it is an issue with locks or such on the server, or something else. One of the things I tried to do was a dbcc updatestatistics, but I don't have permission to do that, so I was wondering if statistics are updated nightly as part of the backup plan, or if I have to request a job be set up to do that.
