We plan to introduce this feature soon. However this is an expensive system and a substantial investment from our part. What we are looking to do is charge a small monthly fee or a one-time fee for each site you like to use it on. I wanted to know if customers would be interested in paying additional for Urchin, what pricing module would they prefer (monthly or one-time) and what price they suggest

The faster we get suggestions in the faster we can make a decision.

If you can do Cold Fusion MX for free why not Urchin? It's $895/server I believe and that should be pretty affordable to JodoHost :D

But if I were to pay, I'd vote $5 one-time per domain. I only need a good stats software on two domains, the other two I can manage with Webalizer
 
It's not $895/server. $895 is the base cost. Each site license would cost us $6.95 and we believe we'd probably need about 1000 to 2000 licenses to start with.

The reason we can give cold fusion mx out for free is that we don't pay per site. With Urchin 5, we pay per each site.

$5 one-time sounds reasonable but the decision doesn't lie in my hands. Would like to hear more opinions. I also need to know if customers are actually interested in Urchin and would be keen on buying it. We don't really gain anything in terms of new business. This is something we want to do to satisfy our existing customers because I know that many have been demanding quality stats for sometime.

Hi Yash-

While I'm sure others need this type of statistics, it honestly doesn't matter to me. My requirements don't currently require that level of monitoring. But, on the other hand, if there was a very reasonable one time charge, like the $5 mentioned, I might do it just for the experience.
 
You are very right in charging for this. Don't see a single company giving out Urchin at $6.95/mo for free.

I think it would be a great addition. I have an account open with another hosting company for 2 business sites I designed for my client. I don't bring them here purely because of bad webmail and stats software. If you go ahead with these plans, the first thing I plan to do is signup for another account or take a reseller package :) (does this apply to resellers?). So yes, I'm very interested :D

You'll atract alot of businesses. All I see is developers around here (like me) :)
 
Definitely yes! I have been using a stat program on my pc since Webalizer does not give enough information. If JodoHost provides Urchin 5, I think I will never leave! A one-time fee of $5 to $10 for each domain sounds very reasonable.

However much this costs you per site... Charge us a little bit more. That's Fair. Make some money off it. It is an awesome stats program. I would pay up to $10 one time fee for it per site. But not per domain. If I had an account with 5 domains. I would not want to pay $50.00 to track all 5 sites' homepages. I have a free tracker on my site but provides nowhere near tha amount of info. I think Urchin might be a little much for me though. All I want to know is where people come from and when on every page of the site. If Urchin has the ability to track a visitor througout the site. I would pay up to $10 per domain. :D Hope you make a descision soon. I want to have it installed asap.
 
Yes, this would apply to resellers as well Ron. Resellers would be able to resell this to their customers. We'll probably include some licenses for free.
 
There are other providers out there who provide Urchin services with Hsphere and charge their resellers 2.50 per month per domain they monitor. The stats Urchin puts out is will worth that and more if you need to see who and where people come and go to from your site.

Sounds like $5-10 would be a worthwhile investment if you require in-depth stats to help improve your business. We plan on moving one of our sites over in a couple of months (when our current hosting agreement is over) and will need a very robust stats program, as we intend to do some heavy marketing and want to show potential ad clients how well the site is doing. We will also become a reseller, and this would be a wonderful addition to offer hosting clients. So, please consider this a yes!
 
No. There are LOTS of log analyzers in the market. If you need a complex or special analysis you can download the raw logs and run locally one of these free, shareware, or commercial programs. By the way, I have Webtrends for free (Interland) and rarely use it.

IMHO the money will be better invested elsewhere as buying an anti-spam program like SpamAssassin, increasing salaries of the staff, upgrading and maintaining equipments and networks, etc.

I have never used Urchin so it is hard for me to say. I would be happy with AWStats if we every get it. I've waited this long so what is another couple months. I just want something that displays a few more options than Webalizer. Would I pay extra...probably not...and most not likely if it were a per month charge.
 
It?s quite clear Jodohost has already done a terrific job to deliver the service, and we customers are very happy about all your nice features, excellent support, and very competitive price.

If I need to point out one thing to improve, log analysis will be my first choice. The weblizer can meet the basic need, but not flexible and powerful enough to go any further. I currently download raw log every week, and use another software to analyze it. Log analysis helps us to understand the customers, just like the market research did to a traditional business. Many successful business owners, online or offline, can testify how important it is to understand customers, so they can really meet the customer need and stand out from fierce competitions.

I feel it?ll be great if we can pay a fee to get Urchin or other analysis tools.

Definitely a YES for Urchin!

I've used urchin extensively in the past and have found their stat reporting system to be one of the best out there, if not "THE" best.

I'd be willing to put up a $5-$10/domain one time fee for this service.
