Got a client (the same one with the ODBC issues earlier) who was talking about going VPS with his site, but he'd have to go ColdFusion. Are there any "Out of the Box" solutions in JodoHost's VPS offerings, or do I need to convince the client to spend ~$1,200 for a license of his own and install on server? Thanks!

We don't offer CF on VPS, but would one of the open source solutions work?

Now I said we have changes on the horizon with CF, it involves doing moves to virtualized platform where there are possibly 2-2.5x more 'cf servers' in our network, but less sites per server, so less chance of ODBC hangs.
This hasn't been fully hashed out yet so is not 100%, but very likely coming.
I will say however, this is not an issue of overload in any way shape or form, one site can take down the ODBC engine in some cases, it is just a spread of the risk. The CF servers are not very populated at all(with exception of wincf on cl1, it has more than others)
