Win5 suddently went offline a few minutes ago just before some customers complained of file corruption messages being returned to their ftp clients.

We have tried multple reboots from the APC port but the server fails to come up. We are working with the staff at the datacenter to bring the server back up

The adaptec RAID1 controller failed on Win5 which has corrupted data on both of the 73GB SCSI hard disks on the system. We are desparately working to recover data after talking to Adaptec

RAID1 is a system we use to protect against data-loss and hard drive crashes. it does this by mirroring both of the SCSI disks on the system (they remain an exact copy at all times). if one of the disk fails, no data would be lost. But unforunately, the RAID1 controller has crashed and done exactly the opposite by spraying corrupt data on both the disks.

What is even more unforunate is that the backup for Win5 was on Win5's D: Drive itself. No one transfered it off to our backup server which is a terrible mistake by us

The worst case scenario is that all customers will have to reupload their files. We're still hoping we can recover something off the server. However, we are also setting up a new system simultaneously

We promise a full investigation into this once we get the server back up and we'll be taking all measures to prevent this in the future

We have been able to access the hard disks and are attempting to recover any recoverable data.

No SQL databases have been lost because they are hosted separately on our database servers

I'd like to appologize on behalf of JodoHost for this terrible lapse of service from our side. We are going to do a total revision of our backup strategy and take measures to ensure this never happens again

We have unforunately been unable to recover any data from the hard disks. We have restored directory structures and websites but customers will have to reupload their web files

We at JodoHost are extremely appologetic. We are going to be taking a whole range of measures to ensure that we are never confronted with this scenerio again and we always have a off-site backup of all our servers

Customers affected by this can apply for compensation under our SLA. Please email [email protected]
