found an old backup CD with some interesting images

I used a FujiFilm MX1200 digital camera back in 2001 to take some neat pictures of an abandoned gold mine.

I see some gold nuggets in the pictures.

That 3rd picture was $1 million word of gold covered with dirt it was left there because a million wasn't worth taking down the mountain for the commercial operation, the area is VERY rugged and the commercial operations left it behind.

That $1million was in about 1993, that means it is worth quite a lot more now but it is not top quality gold it has to be processed down a bit.

Add to that the insurance requirements for the commercial operation because there was an underground lake in the mountain that would rapidly fill with water if they went too far in and they said it was not profitable. :)
