    Webalizer not updating multiple domains

Can we not install Webalizer (or whatever stats package we like) onto a client's site, and run it every day with a cron job? Won't that get around the HSphere issues?

    Webalizer still randomly quitting

I just encountered this problem for one of my clients.. Webalizer had stopped recording stats sometime in April. hmmm, very troubling. Stats is a rather important aspect of many a web site. I must thank Manish for his honesty, when responding to my ticket, saying it still may stop again...

    Cubecart on Windows servers?

Just been playing with it. One really needs to buy the "Power Pack" (read: non-crippled version) to use it for anything more than the basics. The free version runs on an *Access MDB* :puke: The Admin interface, at least in the free version, is appalling. Any other suggestions? :P

    Cubecart on Windows servers?

Bah humbug! :P What's the most recommended shopping cart for a Windows shared server? And please don't say osCommerce, I wouldn't recommend it to my mother-inlaw. :)

    Cubecart on Windows servers?

I've just installed CubeCart (the free v3 version) on a client's Windows shared server. Installation went fine, and I got as far as logging into the CubeCart admin area. However, the application misbehaves after that point. Once logged in as admin, clicking any of the admin menu items...

Win5 is a pain in the rear

Thanks Manish. Is it worth requesting the move, or should I wait till after the reboot? That is, are you fixing something long-term or just for now?

Win5 is a pain in the rear

I've been having ongoing problems with a client who is on Win5 (cluster 2). Web site response is often slow, FTP response is often slow, Webshell is often slow. I've had a tech move the site to another app pool (or make some adjustment there) and the site response has improved dramatically...

Are 307's better than 302's for google?

I have a situation when I need to redirect Googlebot etc. to a different link to various files, but I want the search engine to retain the original link in its listings. For example, the original link is /documents/docname.pdf but I want Googlebot to actually get the file from...

Any way to map *.pdf files to custom code?

I'm working on some code for a client, and would like to handle requests to .pdf files in my .NET code, as they are created on the fly. Is there a way to tell IIS (through HSphere I presume) to map *.pdf files to custom code?

    Googlebot slurping up bandwidth!

Something I've just discovered... any extra headers I add to the client request go through OK. So if I add a header to my browser request called "foobar", the 404 error script can see it no problem. I can even add "if-modified-since-then" and it works fine. So something is actively stripping...

    Googlebot slurping up bandwidth!

Stephen, could you investigate this please.. sorry for the long explanation. :) I have written a demo script to show this issue in action - will PM links if you need em. I've been investigating the esoteric and arcane art of interpreting Googlebot test-request headers. And there's an issue with...

IE Tester - Multiple IE versions in one package

Just stumbled upon this great (sounding) app. You need XP/Vista with IE7 installed. This app allows you to test sites with the rendering engines of different IE5.5, 6, 7 and 8. All in one app! http://www.my-debugbar.com/wiki/IETester/HomePage If it works as advertised, this may be worth a...

    Googlebot slurping up bandwidth!

Howdy Stephen. I'd rather not, as it's a medical research site, so their docs (presentations, scientific papers, etc) are pretty important to them and need to be indexed. I'm fiddling with the CMS code now... it does seem that everything is set to immediate expiry (eg. the classic asp...

    Googlebot slurping up bandwidth!

I spotted a client of mine using 2-3GB of bandwidth each month which seemed very unusual - they shouldn't have so much traffic! I checked AWStats to make sure HSphere was reporting correctly, and noticed something interesting for the current month... Bots like Googlebot, MSN and Yahoo's Slurp...

    Client's site hacked

Ah.. apologies to Indian - he posted about Grumblar on the previous page. :horn: I still can't connect the dots though.. how does the malware get on the PC via Adobe apps? A friend got infected with Grumblar the other day - their Google searches were being redirected to malicious sites...
