Allow ISP on SPF record

bro

Perch
Has anyone had any success editing their SPF DNS record to Pass their ISPs mail server?

Here's my TXT entry:
v=spf1 ip4:204.10.105.67 a mx a:yahoo.com mx:yahoo.com ?all

This passes the domain okay, but returns 'neutral' for yahoo mail servers, even though it can see the mail comes from a yahoo smtp. (yahoo.com does not have an SPF record, so 'include:yahoo.com' can't be used).

Here are the returned headers for a mail sent through Yahoo:
//
Received: from smtp111.sbc.mail.re2.yahoo.com (68.142.229.94) by mail3.myh*phere.biz with SMTP; 10 May 2006 13:11:28 -0000
Received-SPF: neutral (mail3.myh*phere.biz: 68.142.229.94 is neither permitted nor denied by SPF record at ***.com)
identity=mailfrom; client-ip=68.142.229.94;
etc
//

So what am I doing wrong? Any ideas?

Yahoo does not use SPF,it uses "domainkeys" just FYI, i am not sure if it plays part in this or not.

I don't think so. It gives me the same result using a test page i.e. when not actually going through their servers, but just checking their IP against my SPF record.

ptr:yahoo.com ?

That could be it. I'll try it.
Does it take a while for the new DNS info to propagate?

tadah!
v=spf1 ip4:204.10.105.67 a mx ptr:yahoo.com ?all

Received-SPF: pass (mail3.myh*phere.biz: SPF record at ***.info designates 68.142.229.93 as permitted sender)

thank you :)
