Black list size limit?

A client is trying to stop spam with a blacklist. Apparently she has a very large list because she's now getting this message.

The preference "blacklist" could not be saved because its data exceeded the maximum allowable size

What is the limit and can it be increased somehow? Or is there a workaround?
