any idea what the story is?

Can you ask your clients to get value of "queuelifetime" for their mailserver. This will help understand the issue. Also i would like to know their SMTP addresses.

just to clarify - the client is NOT being hosted with Jodo they have 3rd party hosting & mailing services.

they were mailing me (on my Jodo hosted email)
 
Yes i know. This is why i need you to ask them. Many providers are using drastically low values for mail's lifetime in queue.
