Cluster size?

Hello,

I recently purchased a reseller account and so far I'm satisfied with it, but I have a small problem/doubt which I hope somebody will help me clarify.

This is one of the websites I uploaded, as reported by Windows on my local PC by right-clicking the folder and seeing its properties:

Size: 288 MB (302,277,258 bytes)
Size on disk: 347MB (363,884,544 byes)
Contains: 20,318 Files, 526 Folders

So I created a 500MB to host this site and did the upload (needed some assistance on this one, because for some reason WebShell wasn't too happy to decompress a ~200MB zip file), but the weird thing is that now when I go to the CP, it shows 472.61MB on Disk Quota, and I am receiving emails everyday warning me that I'm approaching my resource limit.

Some Tech guy told me this was because the zip file I uploaded was "still being reported even thought it was deleted after it was uncompressed", so I gave it a full day to wait and see, but the size didn't come down at all.

The only reason I can see for such a big difference (we're talking about 125MB here) is that the cluster size on the server where the files are is set higher than my local PC, and this is why having so many files is affecting my quota in such way.

Could you confirm this for me, please, and also, is there any workaround for this problem?

Thank you.

Thanks for your reply Ravi,

I understand SDU, have read on that when I signed up, but I don't think it answers the question I'm asking. Anyway, the link you provided states:

"Used disk space on different types of servers (web, mail, MySQL, Windows, etc.) is summarized every 24 hours to make up Summary Disk Usage then shown to end users in their Control Panels"

I've already waited not 24 but 72 hours and the Disk Usage still shows the same figures, and the .zip file is nowhere to be seen on the FTP or WebShell, so how can I confirm it's gone?

Well.. In that case, please create a ticket to let us check your actual usage and related issues.
If ticket is already there.. PM me the ticket number/domain.

Your folder occupies 327MB on server (including logs) , with 11,831 files and 294 folders at 16:29 EDT
Your CP shows average disk usage around 175MB.

Could you tell me why the CP doesn't show those numbers? Earlier on today, it was displaying ~490MB. Now it went all the way up to 500MB (pink bar), and I didn't upload anything.

What's going on?

I had a similar problem. I opened a ticket and a staff told me that my trashbin was full of files I deleted earlier. I did empty the trashbin but for some reason it wouldn't delete it on the server. Maybe this is what's happening to you?

Hello Dave,

My TrashBin was always off, so I don't think that's the problem, but I think the tech staff already figured it out, as they replied my ticket about 30 minutes ago, telling me that there seems to be a problem with the disk usage report for my domain, and that they're working on it with the people at Psoft, so hopefelly things will go back to normal.

Anyway, I appreciate your reply.

Dave96, did you follow up with support regarding your ticket?
This is very rare that any ticket remained unreplied. Give us your ticket number to let us investigate it.
