Database and Log file quotas

Hi!

Can someone explain a little bit about database quotas and log files.

I have a database that has just grown bigger and bigger. a couple of time Jo?dohost has helped me making a backupfile of the database because i had to do some work with it locally. one backupfile just a week ago was over 500mb, but the backupfile I?m downloading today is only about 250 mb.

If i look in my CP i can see this:
Database/Transaction Log file quota ratio 80 %
Used database file 256 MB out of 1200 MB
Used transaction log file 286 MB out of 300 MB
Used total 542 MB out of 1500 MB

Is my log file ratio totally wrong set? The problem I hava had several times is that I got an error on my website saying the logfile is full. so to keep going with the site I have just increased the database quota or increased the logfile ratio.

How should I set up the logfile ratio properly, what is "normal"?
Shouldn?t the logfile decrease and be smaller when Jodohost makes database backups?
Isn?t there any possibilities to have the database increase automatically by percent, lika I can do when I set up a database in Enterprise manager.

Sometimes my site has went down due to log files have beeing full, and I unfortunately has been on travel or busy with other things so it takes time until I have got it fixed.

Can anyone assist me with advice about this?

wouldnt it be best just to have 60% if your database quota is 1500mb??

the log file i believe is cleared every night
