Email filtering please.

I have read a few posts about the lack of email filtering with jodohost and would like to let it be known, that I want it to be a feature added.

I get bombarded by email every day, most of it viagra ads and viruses, it'd be nice to have it labeled and stripped before getting to me. If somebody wants to send a potentially dangerous file type, I'm fine with them zipping it.

We all know it's not 100% effective, but it does help. Please reconsider this as a feature. It will make reselling your services much easier, as I get asked about that constantly.

I would rather they not install this because I have had nothing but bad experiences with these types of software.

There are many applications on the market that you can install on top of outlook or other email applications to do this for you.
 
I tend to agree. Spam filters usually cause me to spend more time looking for false positives that I would otherwise spend deleting spam.

I would much rather see a good server side virus scanner.
 
False positive? I can't remember when I've last had a false positive...
I get false negatives almost daily, but my home setup manages to catch a big part of the spam, so it helps. If you get false positives your filters are set too sensitive.

Personally I use a setup that differentiates between ham, probably spam (tagged), spam (deleted).
 
I'd like to see it. My last host ran Spam Assassin, and over two years I think I received less than a dozen unwanted spams. I got no viagra/enlargement/weightloss spams AT ALL! I had no problems either with not receiving mail (that I know of, of course... :rolleyes: ).
When I signed up a new domain name with jodohost, I got a dozen really obvious spams within a couple of days, even before I'd sent anyone my new email address.
There's no reason why a spam filter set on a fairly forgiving setting should ever pick a false-positive. The most abnoxious spams are usually pretty easy to spot.
