Linux VPS Backup

Is the filesystem on a Linux VPS account backed up on a regular basis? If so, how often? If my account were to become corrupted or compromised can you restore it from the backup?

we take vps backups for server recovery in case of main file system/os problem not for clients file system, Clients needs to make their own backup policy and take backups of their own.
