Mambo via mydomain.com/mambo?

I just installed Mambo via the EasyApp. The only gripe with the install is that I have to access the Mambo site via http://www.mysite.com/mambo because Mambo is installed in the subdirectory.

Is there a way to configure the domain in H-sphere so when someone goes to http://www.mysite.com, it'll point to the mambo subdirectory without exposing the directory in the URL?

I know the easy way is just move all the files and directory one level up, but I would like to keep the organization of mambo in its own directory.

You can do this with the use of .htaccess files, just plop an .htaccess file in the root directory that forwards all traffic to the subdirectory - If you google .htaccess you'll be able to find what you need.

Hope this helps.

just to check you want it so the mabo directoy is in theory the root folder so when you see

mydomain.com you are actually in mydomain.com/mambo

if so why not submit a ticket and ask for mydomain.com root folder be mydomain.com/mambo

that way the mambo folder becomes your website root directory

not sure if thats the aim.

Use of .htaccess assumes your hosting is on Apache and NOT IIS.

I tried to achieve what you are wanting to do on IIS (without using .htaccess but by using the Mambo component SEF404 and custom error redirects) but it required some nasty hacking and generated some errors I still have nightmares about.

The easyapps installation irritated me soo much I don't bother using it. My recommendation is to upload the latest Mambo/Joomla installation file and then uncompress it using the File Manager in your Control Panel.
