moving reseller domain from H-Sphere to VPS

We have a reseller website under a service account on H-Sphere. We are in the process of moving it to a VPS plan. Since we are currently using NS ... NS4.resellerdomain.com for nameservers for our customers on H-Sphere. We added two more NS5 & NS6 to point to the two IPs associated with the VPS. Will this work? If we delete the reseller website from H-Sphere, will it disable all of our customer websites? What about the cp.resellerdomain.com how do we handle this on the VPS? We have a SSL certificate for the cp does this have to be recreated for use on the VPS?

TIA

ok there are a few things to consider here, your service domain controls all. You'd be best on it to point the records manually to the VPS in my opinion. You can do it other ways, but if you do you will need to create those entries manually in plesk DNS servers (like server aliases for win1.yourservicedomain.com, win2.yourservicedomain.com etc)

The nameservers themselves, leaving the ns1-4 on the service domain is a must, but moving the actual domain to the ns5/6 to be the master DNS servers for that domain can create issues with the instant aliases as the like unless you go into the Hsphere side e.manager, and look at all the dns entries and recreate them manually.

So I think would be easier to just change on the Hsphere side to custom dns, and change the A record for the domain to the VPS ip that it does in Plesk DNs, then same for the domain(without www) A records, MX record to VPs, etc.

either way going to be some hand edits of DNS....and either way client sites should not go down with the ns1-4 still being there, BUT if they use a winXX/webXX.yourservicedomain.com alias to FTP, it will break, and instant aliases will break unless you do the Hsphere dns-->Plesk DNs by hand, so depends on the route you want to take.

Would it be easier to get a domain name like myvps.com and point that to the IP addresses for the VPS and then select them for the nameservers for the resellerdomain.com?

TIA

If you move resellerdomain.com nameservers, the sub entries that make the reseller account work, will die...if that is what you as asking here.

If you plan to keep clients under the resellerdomain.com service domain, its primary nameservers will have to remain to be the Hsphere to not have to manually recreate all the DNS for every hsphere server entry. It isn't that you delete the nameservers (you wouldn't, so most would not go down) it is that you change the active nameserver pointers for the main domain, so in the future if someone does a ping on win25.resellerdomain.com, it will not return a valid result....(for example)
