A few websites using mssql11 as back end are noticing timeouts.
This is an abuse issue, caused a brute force attack against built-in MS-SQL users. We are looking further into the problem and will post an update soon.

We have blocked two subnets. If you access MS-SQL server from your local computer and can't access it any more, please scan your computer(s) with updated anti-virus/anti-spy software and then submit a block removal request.

We have managed to control the problem. Server is being monitored for any further abuse. Websites using this DB server are responding fine now.

Problem has re-surfaced. 500+ connections are there from a single web server of ours. We are trying to trace this abusive user.

There is no obvious abuse going on. We suspected the problem to be related to a known multi-core CPU sync problem, but the fix doesn't seems to have helped.
We are rebooting mssql11 now.
