MSSQL2 Server Upgrade

Dated: October 15, 2004

We have taken the decision to upgrade MSSQL2 to a new server. Currently, MSSQL2 runs on a Pentium 4 2.8GHZ HT processor with 200GBx2 SATA HD in RAID1.

We will be switching it to a Intel XEON 2.4GHZ server with a 73GB SCSI hard disk. We expect the XEON/SCSI combination should considerably improve performance on this server which does some heavy processing and can get bogged down during peak hours.

The shift is scheduled for Monday, October 18th. It will take place starting from 1AM EDT and may last for upto 120minutes. During this time, MSSQL2 will become unavailable and hence we ask customers to turn off MSSQL areas of their site during this period or inform their visitors of the unavailability of that portion of their site

We hope our customers understand the necessity of this move.

We have been forced to reschedule to the shift to Saturday 1AM EDT due to a partitioning problem on the new server which we have not been able to correct and hence the system would need to be reinstalled.

We are sorry for the inconvenience. MSSQl2 has not been pulled down and is still online

The transfer was completed about 15minutes ago

Total time taken was about 181 minutes. We thank our customers for their cooperation
