We have the same problem since we installed Microsoft Outlook 2003. Did you fix your problem. If you did, please tell me what you I have to do to fix this problem.

[FIXED] Re: Outlook 2003 empty IMAP-Password

Hi, I came across this thread while searching for an answer to this problem. While I agree that the correct solution is to not use brain-dead Microsoft crap in the first place, there is a workaround.

In my case, I'm actually running Outlook 2003 in a VM because I'm testing against Citadel, an open source groupware server. I'm not actually using Outlook or Windows for email. Bleah.

Anyway, I found it sending empty passwords as well. As it turns out, Outlook 2003 keeps your IMAP password stored in the "Protected Storage" subsystem. So if the Protected Storage service isn't running, and isn't set to Automatic startup, Outlook silently fails in this mode. It doesn't bother telling you what went wrong -- it just sends an empty password and prompts you to enter your password, over and over again.

Start the Protected Storage service and your password will get sent.

But really ... do yourself a favor and just don't run Outlook.
