Outlook Express & POP3

Hi!

We can not get the client's email client, Outlook Express, to work with our private name server hosted on Jodohost.

We are trying to use POP3.

This is the error we are getting.

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'Administration', Server: 'mail.theirdomain.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

Currently, we have the my server requires authentication checked. Is this correct?

Do we need to use a different port(s)?

They are using a cable modem to access the internet.

Does this server needs a secure connection need to be checked?

Is there a tutorial of the settings for Outlook Express 6.x?

They are getting upset so we would really appreciate some help.

Hi!

I went through the tutorial and I had it setup correctly.

I was wondering if problem could be at Netsol.

I have the MX Record like this:

Priority = 10
Mail Server = mail.privatenameserver.net

I tried setting the mail server to mail.domain.com
but it says it needs an IP address then.

Which way is correct?

If the second is where do I get the IP address from?

Thank you ...

Ahm you're using your own DNS. I think the setup needs to be like this.

Add a CNAME record that associates mail.yourdomain.com with mail.jodoshared.com.
Add an MX record Priority 10 that points to mail.yourdomain.com.

Sometimes if you're specifying a name instead of an IP address they require you to put a period at the end ("mail.yourdomain.com.").

You're setting is correct for Reseller..

mail server : 10 : mail.privatenamseserver.com

But I think you must "unchecked" authentication.

So far, my MS Outlook Ex..working fine.

Thanks,
