I'm trying to temporarily redirect www.mydomain.com to www.mydomain/subfolder. Any of ther different options I try in the redirect page in the control panel is not working.

SePP, Apply Settings is only in Linux 
I do not think you can redirect to a sub folder because the way hSphere configures that would make your site inaccessible. You could only use the redirect option to redirect to some external website
Instead, I'd suggest you create a simple index.html page that redirects to the sub folder
