MS SQL backups?

Perch
I submitted a support ticket requesting information on how to backup my SQL database via SMS. I was able to back it up successfully, but can't figure out how to actually download it so I can save a copy locally.

Ticket JH #YRZ-19908-990

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

We are working to introduce a web based tool by the end of next week, I am working on GUI touches now :)

Very cool!

In the mean time I need to transfer all of the data to a new domain I've set up. They can't share the database, so I need a copy of the data transferred to the new domains database.

Should I just submit another ticket and request that specifically? If so, what info would I need to include in the ticket?

Thanks Stephen!

any update on the backup tool? I need to create a backup of my database to store on my local PC for testing.

I can not see this tool. An user and password is required. Is this this tool available in all servers?

Could you send a post explain how to use it?

Thank you

Since this is not available on all servers it might not be available to you.

However once we have it fully developed we shall put it up on all servers.

Is there a limit to the size of the files that it will restore? Also, is the web tool smart enough to force the restore to use the db files created from the hsphere control panel?

mssql1.g********.com is the SQL server. win2.g********.com is the host server. I'm using the DNS from another provider, would that interfere any?

It should not interfere, it is installed there but not working :)

Looks like some services are disabled I will check and correct it today.

Any news on this?

Would this backup tool be available from the MSSQL Manager link from the control panel? When I try that I keep getting this and never even get a chance to login:

Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Source: pmxoxxt0

I guess that would relate to services being down.

Na that has nothing to do with a service being down :) it is just due to the fact that aspenterprisemanager.net is in an unmaintained state and has bugs.

However the other link is up and running:
http://mssql1.g********.com/mssql/

Okay, I understand now. I thought the original link in this thread was referring to a mssqlX subdomain of my domain, that's why I was wondering if using an external DNS would interfere. Now I see it's referring to the actual SQL server. Anyway, it works, thanks a lot!! I really like being able to do backup/restores on my own without having to wait on a support ticket.

Sorry to hijack the thread but is there something similar available for vps customers that are using jodos mssql servers ie mssql10.****

I actually tried that before posting and have just realised Id put in the wrong domain name :( works a treat for the vps domain thanks
