Web5 site loading very slowly

I have a customer on web5 that is loading very slowly.

Is anyone else having an issue on this server?

Submitted ticket: DCZ-35897-370

Web5 may still have some filtering from DOS attacks increasing its load. I will check on it and see if we can remove yet or not.

It is back to normal now... or at least feels like it. There use to be a status page where we could see utilization... but since I can't see that I can't provide any addition feedback as to what was causing the slow down.

Support responded and said:

Kindly check this website now, however we didn't face any slowness on this website. Also, there is no overload on server, its working fine. Please check and let us know if there is any specific URL on which you are facing slowness then please update us.

The slowness stopped right after reporting it so I don't know if they just looked at current utilization values or if they looked at history as well prior to my submitting the ticket. I would be curious to know if your internal tool saw some sort of high utilization or not.

It also has a rate limited network at the moment as it was helping to prevent issues on other servers, so it could have been low load and still an issue, I will be watching it.

What does that really mean for clients on web5? I know I am on the original reseller plan and on the older servers, but are we being penalized? Or limited more than others?

It is only a temporary measure, as the matter occurred not once but twice, it is being done as a caution only. the attack took down the entire network for quite a while and was quite the headache to resolve.

We are having the same low down for web5. I updated the original ticket and await info on what is going on.

Hmmmm... I updated the ticket a while back, but my update still has NOT shown up. So my guess is no one has looked at it. Web5 is still running slow. Steve, since the ticket doesn't appear to be updating could you take a look or see what is going on please?

It is syncing to new server and was maxing limits of its uplink, its been resolved for a bit now.

So web5 slowness was in fact caused by network limit (to prevent DoS attacks eating up whole Jodo infra) in combination with filesync to new server at waco ???

Would it be a good idea to have a standard sticky post where all temporary limits like this are reported? This prevents all kind of endless root-cause searches by a lot of people!

Best regards and success with migrations this weekend (pretty extensive list at Twitter @jodohostcom !)

Yes, it did I thought Tanmaya had lifted it when starting sync but he didn't, so I did.

the moves are listed here as well :)

I've hit a lot of bumps on windows side with transfer so far, still striving to make it!

To be precise: to new virtualized hw running at Hyper V if I am correct?
Linux no

Although we allow Linux on HyperV we are not running it internally for Linux servers. We could in a pinch do it as well, but generally would not.

Web5 has hit some more blips today. My customer is calling me and saying this is happening everyday. I checked and it took almost a minute to load the last page... but 5 minutes later it is loading fine again.

Is there something going on now? Is it over to the new hardware yet?

Yes web5 is migrated to new hw at waco. Check if the websites are pointing to the new IP's. (IP should start with 173.x).
If still pointing to old IP (starts with 64.x or 204.x) then check your DNS.

and web5 form the new IP is loading really fast for me, but there is an issue for SOME domains mostly on web4, seeming to have gotten a web5 IP mixed in randomly, which we are correcting.

also, some IPs may start with 199.xxx just as a quick FYI that is our new, new IP range.

Pinging does hit 173.x.

Will we likely see any more issues? Or do we know why it was so slow for a brief period?
