im not sure, i have never used the .htaccess on my windows account only on the linux one, sorry! but jodo is good, if you need something to be enabled and you have a reason for needing it.. then they will most likely do it for you. they are also pretty quick on replying to questions like...

if the images are hosted on your server or account, then it will definately be included in your bandwidth. The images are still being accessed from your server even if it is an error page.

that one shows how to make the tree, to make it collapse and expand you need to add a little javascript, but that should be pretty easy.
