    SMTP Timeout?

What's port 587? Why should that work (other than that you work here)?

    SMTP Timeout?

I get a timeout error. I checked the SMTP servers that do work, and one is my ISP's (this should always work and it does) and the other is gmail. However, gmail uses SSL so it's not the standard port. So it does appear as is my ISP has blocked port 25. I'll check with them. Thanks.

    SMTP Timeout?

Is anyone else having problems sending mail from Outlook to their JH account? I keep getting timeout errors when trying to connect to the JH SMTP server. I can successfully send mail to my other ISP's SMTP servers so I don't believe it's a PC issue. Anyone? EDIT: I can receive e-mail fine...

My first potential customer, but . .

So I guess "...it will be completely non-nude. Mostly girls posing in bikinis..." would be OK content then.

My first potential customer, but . .

Again, the user want's to setup a non-nude site. Ignore the example site as it's not the site that will be setup. Surely you're not censoring sites before they are setup. My suggestion to rmethod is to review the TOS with the end-user, and if they agree to follow the TOS, there should be no...

My first potential customer, but . .

Vulgar is subjective. Nudity is not. Photos of women not exposing any private parts is not nudity, therefore this should be allowed. It is also no vulgar if tastefully done. I did view the openning page of the example site, and regarded it as simply an example. The user stated he wanted to...

My first potential customer, but . .

In the original question, it was clearly stated that the site was non-nude, so your nudity argument is irrelevant. Is there another reason why this site would not be allowed?

    Send from Email Address

Outlook 2003 does indeed have a drop-down on the main toolbar in the new message window. It's labelled "Accounts" and it allows me to select any one of my accounts as the "From:" address.

    Asp components

Do not use ASPImage, or let your customers use it. It causes memory problems on the servers. Use ASPJPEG instead. It's just as easy to use, has all the same features, and it much more well behaved.

    Disk Usage

I believe HSphere also includes traffic between the web and SQL servers as traffic within your quota. Are you using SQL for your database?

    PSoft Control Panel update ?

I would even go so far as to suggest you wait several weeks after its release before installing it. Let others find the bugs.

    ASPImage sux! (apparently)

I do something similar and my site serves up 40,000+ thumbnails on average every day. To my knowledge this does not cause load problems on JH's servers, at least since I switched to ASPJPEG. However I have restricted my pages to display no more than 15 thumbnails per page.

    Registration Process Failed..

I'm happy to see you trying to improve the servers by migrating the mail server off the CP server. I would suggest you take a minute to consider improved communication however. You sent an e-mail message to all customers announcing the migration of the mail server (this was good) stating "The...

    Server time & Daylight saving.

Sorry, I should have at least offered some help. If all you want to do is correctly calculate GMT, you can assume the server is in EST and does observe DST. The rule for most of North Amercia is DST starts the first Sunday in April, and ends the last Sunday is October.

    Server time & Daylight saving.

Boy are you in for a headache. Daylight time is a beast. I have been looking into this lately and it seems that in some places around the world, the date that daylight time starts and ends differs and sometime with no rules. It's quite a mess actually. There are lots of references on the...

    Access path as querystring?

Oops, sorry, left that part out eh? I setup a 404.asp page and setup HSphere to use this page on 404 errors. Then the ASP code is in this page. I think IIS sends a querystring like "404;/page.asp" to the error page where /page.asp is the page that the user entered that doesn't exist.

    Access path as querystring?

I do this now using request.servervariables("QUERY_STRING"), removing my domain name from the string, and then checking to see if the remaining text is a member name. The URL's are typically "http://mydomain.com/membername" in my case. Then I just redirect to a member.asp?id=xx page.
