Stephen, I have a client that needs 100% uptime for their asp.net application - could you please recomend some kind of setup here - maybe some combination of two VPS servers or something like that. Do you offer dedicated servers on windows?

100% uptime is not an operational reality, but you can get a very good setup with two VPSes, and in July we will not be having a middleman to IP services and will be in direct control(so issue like this morning should not happen on a theoretical basis)
You can shoot for 99.999% in reality but each nine after that adds 10’s of thousands in costs, 3 days ago even google was down for me for 20 minutes, about 5 minutes after hard down it started taking me to www.google.si for some reason.
I can’t exactly speak on our new network yet as the design is not fully implemented but it will be redundant in every point to us down to the switches, and only a direct server switch failure will be a problem, and if you have time we could ensure different VPSes on are different switches.
Now comes the hard part, application uptime.
I just attended this week a Microsoft partner session on HyperV in Windows 2008, after using the betas and now RC0(rc1 any day now) I am quite confident MS has got this right, and we will be offering Windows 2008 HyperV VPSes, among this is a monitoring station that keeps a heartbeat on the server and files to keep them in sync and operational. I am pretty ‘hyped’ about the HyperV services that are built into Windows 2008.
I guess the only issue with it is we will not be selling it until it goes final which they say will be August.

I will recommend them to upload the UI of the application on two differend subdomains /maybe even 3/ - lets say subdomain.myservicedomain.com on win26 and subdomain2.myservicedomain.com on win 27 - the main problem here at Jodo for me was application pool problems - I think this will solve it. Ofcource when MS SQL 2005 is down their system will be down too - but for the last 3 years I can’t remember when ms sql server was down. There are dedicated hosters that promise 100 % Network uptime but - I don’t think it is real /liquidweb for example/.
