Accessing site while dedicated domain propagates

I switched my site to a dedicate IP address yesterday afternoon, because I’m going to be using SSL. I understand that it can take as long as 24 hours for the change to propagate… But I was wondering if I should be able to access the site via the new IP address (as listed in the CP) while the propagation takes place? I’d like to be able to continue updating the site in the meantime, if possible…

I changed one of my sites to a dedicated IP and propagation was instant - quite amazing.

Hi peskypup,

You should be able to access via the dedicated IP address..while Name Servers are updating/propogating. So any work that you do now via the IP address should show. The one concern I have when doing this is if you have an existing database. You can end up having them out of synch..if some people can still access via the old address..and some can start accessing via the new.

The site hasn’t launched yet, so I’m not concerned about the database issue…

I’m unable to access it via either the domain or the IP address, however, so I guess I’ll be submitting a trouble ticket!

Send me the IP address and the domain in a PM, I will check on this for you.
You can find the IP it is supposed to be in the control panel.
