WebD, php5 won’t help anything here, you are mixing many issues, it was done to PROTECT you from hackers, defacers, script kiddies, and malware that ATTACK sites.
But, complaining here is not going to get you anywhere, and you don’t have any real content to this post. I have no clue what you are even talking about except that everything has been mod security related for you recently.
in addition, mod_security will be on every server it doesn’t matter if running php3/4/5/5.5
It’s a valuable tool and many hosts run it to prevent problems, it just has some growing pains in implementing, submit a ticket and await a reply, if the issue continues then submit a reply with full details. Details here are of utmost importance.
I think his comment on php5 was more of a “Hello Jodo you suck these days” kinda thing, rather than a suggestion to solve all his problems.
WebD, the mod_Security rules we have in place are very standard in the shared hosting industry. However, I’ll see what we can do to further clarify these security rules.
Alot of customers are simply running badly secured scripts which can easily be defaced, mod_security would prevent it
Guys trust me we need the rules, but the scripts Vbulletin, CRE Loaded, regular form mails etc. all causing problems, and these scripts are up to date.
