AWStats Set Up

Hi,

So I’ve had a good look on the site FAQs - but no luck. The question is how can I set up and get awstats to work? Webalizer is all OK.

just turn it on and wait a day … oh and i think you need cgi support for that

Thanks I’ll give it a try - in theory I’m running a windows plan - but if I enable cgi I assume its going to work via running on the nix server.

CGI scripts are also run on Windows..

Hmmm - I just opened the Awstats folder/directory … and its empty! So it looks like during setup the script files were not added.

Any ideas?

It’s only supposed to contain AWStats data files, not scripts.
If it isn’t working for some reason, it makes sense that there are no data files yet.

I too installed awstats and I have one data file in the awstats folder, now I would just like to know what to do with it? I thought awstats had a GUI? I’m sure it does but how do I get to it?

The awstats folder is actually a virtual directory, so you should not see anything there

I guess that means something is wrong then because i have a file called awstats042006.mydomain.com.txt and when I try to go to /AWStats I get a “Forbidden” HTTP error. I also turned webalizer on and it’s been telling me I have to wait 24 hours for over a week.

the /awstats folderis not meant to be browsed, that is the log it is analyzing each day.
To get awstats you go to:
www.domain.com/awstats/cgi-bin/awstats.pl

ok, now it asked for me to login??? is there an FAQ or help page for AWStats?

It asks you to login, use FTP info, this is correct.

this is what I get…

Error: Couldn’t open config file “awstats.www…com.conf” nor “awstats.conf” after searching in path “C:\HSphere\skeleton\AWStats,/etc/awstats,/usr/local/etc/awstats,/etc,/etc/opt/awstats”: No such file or directory

Did you use the correct URL ?
Example: http://localhost/awstats/awstats.pl?config=mysite
Example: http://127.0.0.1/cgi-bin/awstats.pl?config=mysite
Did you create your config file ‘awstats.www…com.conf’ ?
If not, you can run “C:\HSphere\skeleton\AWStats/tools/awstats_configure.pl” from command line, or create it manually.

Check config file, permissions and AWStats documentation (in ‘docs’ directory).

you can use the link from your control panel and it will put that automatically.

www.domain.com/awstats/cgi-bin/awstats.pl?config=domain.com is the full path
