What is the current best/cheapest domai nreg that doesn’t have hassles for setting up the DNS and such? Is Godday good ?
Just a followup, which would be better, godaddy or Yahoo?
godaddy is easier to manage domaisn than yahoo!, yahoo is a nightmare!

So is Godaddy probably the easiest/best place to go? I have another .com with networksolutions but they have no discounts it seems.
I have domains at godaddy and mydomain.com, both work well.
I have several domains through GoDaddy, with no complaints. I also have a couple registered through Jodohost, and their system is pretty easy to use as well. In fact, I think Jodohost is charging $8.50 for .com domains, where GoDaddy is getting $8.95.
I also use JodoHost (Directl), for my clients, just easier for me to have control for my clients.
For me personally I either use Godaddy or JodoHost. Yahoo sometimes, but read their terms carefully before signing up. They have good rates (2.99 first year), but not as easy as godaddy down the road. Sometimes paying more is better.
I use namecheap ($8.88 ) for many years and they’ve been good to me as well, easy to manage all my domains there.
Be a little careful with GoDaddy. When I started with them I registered 50 or so domains for clients and future development. The default is set to auto renew domains unless you explicitly turn it off. That cost me about $400 but was my mistake.
Also, GoDaddy cost me another couple hundred dollars after they botched transferring 20 domains into their system from Network Solutions. I tried for six months to get a refund on the transfer fees and never so much as received a reply to an email.
That being said, I still use GoDaddy for impulsive domain registrations because they’re cheap and I know their system a little better than I did before. Any domain I’m actually working with I have with Network Solutions because they have good VIP privileges if you own a lot of domains. NetSol is expensive though.
if you like netsol but don’t want to pay their rates, www.changeip.com is a reseller that is less than 50% of the price and does free transfers.

Network Solutions has to be the absolute worst registrar on the planet. Not only do they have the highest prices, but their control panel is impenetrable, their service is last-rate and God help you if you lose your password. They use separate login accounts for service and administration, making the simplest maintenance chore a 4-hour ordeal. Add to this their arrogant, patronizing attitude to clients coupled with their insistence on using their ad-laden services for whois lookups( DNSSTUFF example) and you can see why I reiterate: STAY CLEAR!8o
Godaddy has very competitive prices and is very good in terms of management, just be sure to ignore all of the stupid useless services they pump at you when you purchase a domain or transfer.
Will I have to agree with Hafa about NetWork Solutions.
They are the worst. I have so many horror stories with them. I have also have had clients that have lost names that they owned for years, that wouldn’t even expired yet, got taken right up from under them, then these names went up for sell for a very high price at another company. If you own a domain with them be careful if you are coming up due within the month, either get it transfed or renewed.
Stay away from them, nothing but problems!
Besides being the most expensive, I haven’t had any of the problems that you describe with netsol. I have one login for service and administration of all of my domains. You can, if you like, setup a separate login to allow somebody in your company, such as an IS person, to administer the dns, etc without having absolute control over your domains. But, you don’t have to have secondary login, it’s there to protect you if you want it.
I’m sure the more domains you have with netsol, the better the service. I’ve never had a problem with the service, only the price. Whereas GoDaddy I’ve never got a single response to a service request but I like the price.

I’ve got to jump in here. I’ve been using GoDaddy now for about 5 years and the only complaint I have is the number of products they are constantly trying to sell you. I have used their phone support several times to successfully resolve issues as recently as last week and have found it to be first rate.
GoDaddy is the one I recommend to all of my new clients who have to register a domain.
By the way, I don’t work or resell for them, just in case anyone was wondering.
yea their upsale on each domain purchase is intensive! They used to have a checkbox at the bottom to skip it all after the first one, but they seemed to remove that one.
I have around 400 domains between directi (6.95), godaddy, bluerazor and registerfly.
I think the WORST is aplus, because a customer of me want i register with them, i buy them 5 domains some time ago, and i am receiveing spam for the email account i set for the buy, i report my credit card as stolen for get a new number. The DNS was a nightmare, and i redirect all to mydomain.com , the good side is the domains are out of aplus now.
Now i am gettng some interesting renewals for registerfly.com at 4 usd, and have transferred out from registerfly.
I dont understand why bluerazor.com not have better prices or rebates.
