I wanted to announce some coming changes that will happen within the next TWO weeks.

In fact Windows part is already happening just not launched the plan changes on the site yet :slight_smile:

On the semi dedicated front, we are renewing these plans, the core(HD/BW) resources except domains have been at least doubled.
In addition to this ASP.NET 2.0/3.0/3.5sp1 will be available and running in full trust.

There is and will remain to be a limit on domains, as that is the point to semi dedicated, put as many resources to as few domains as possible.

We have already purchased a linux SD server as well, but features not yet finalized on it at this time, that will happen SOON and be posted here or the site, so keep eyes open for this.

To this point SD has not been something a reseller could offer, but we will be making it available at a discount to resellers, subject to capacity controls(meaning we can’t immediately put 50 accounts on the server if that many were to request).

Resellers will see a $8 discount on SDone and $12 discount on SDtwo, you can then resell it at the same cost we do and make a bit, or even be cheaper than us if you want to go on slim margins :slight_smile:

In many ways SD services even in their current form have had a lot of interest we believe by doubling the resources and making available to resellers as well that we can meet the demand that is there for a premium fully managed hosting product. Buying direct clients will have access to a dedicated Semi Dedicated Helpdesk, buying as a reseller you as a reseller will have access to this desk directly, but not your client.

Just keeping you updated on what is new.

(Cluster1 will have LinuxSD and Windows SD first, Cluster2 will within one to two months, if demand comes sooner we on clsuter2 the schedule can be accelerated)

Stephen, which Helpdesk are we talking about here?
Does it have a language pack?

helpdesk meaning, special support queue/special support location.

It is using the same software as the WinVPS helpdesk.

We can only support in English(Or Hindi) so I can’t see a multi language helpdesk helping a lot.

That being said the server(s) will support other languages :slight_smile:

Semi-Dedicated had a minor change, it is actually available on Windows for Cluster1, and Linux AND windows on cluster2. We will add Linux on Cluster1 is demand is there for it!

Sorry if I missed something.. but if it’s available to resellers, what is the account limit per reseller?
ie. how many separate client accounts can a reseller support on a SD server?

Second, is the whole HSphere Reseller section available to use, like on a normal reseller account; plans, support tickets, etc?

Sounds wonderful if that’s the case! If each reseller could have up to 20 high-performance accounts available to clients, it would rock I think. Unless you mean 20 end-user accounts overall… which means us resellers would have to challenge each other in World of Warcraft Arena matches to compete for accounts. I mean, since Capitalism and the global economy is failing, feudal warring is the only viable option left..

The number is overall max per server we add, basically yes all features would be available by us doing an account move to the SD server(which is not one we publicly give rights to make new accounts on), and then we manually add an extra fee for the added service as an addon. This will skew the usage results a bit if someone actually used the SD network/disk space resources and if such happened we’d need to work with you and our billing team to get a plan for your reseller account customized such that it won’t be charging you overages, but we are willing to do that

So, if I understand, I need to tell you which clients’ sites I want to have transferred to SD. So in essence I have most clients in my normal reseller account, and a couple on the SD server.

Usage of those SD sites appears in my Reseller CP as normal.. so as you say, those couple of sites using the SD resources may cause my Reseller CP to show overages, but you’ll address that in billing.

  1. Currently, how much will a reseller be charged per month per client site on SD? (after discount - so what’s the bottom line, all fees etc?)

  2. Currently what are the SD disk & traffic allocations per site? (you said they’ve been doubled - does the SD page now show the doubled quotas or do you mean double what is shown?)

  3. Are you allowing unlimited mailboxes?

  4. What about subdomains?

it depends on plan, on linux SD 1 or windows SD 1

It would be: $51/m for linux SD1 and $61/m for windows SD1

$12 off out list price for the SD2 plan

This original post was before SD plans pages or site was updated, it got updated with the proper 2x or more figures in the update. So the site reflects current limits per plan

Correct, mail handling however is on the current mail servers.

  1. What about subdomains?

It is ‘unlimited’ as well, however as you know subdomains are handled just like domains on hsphere, there is room for ‘abuse’ here if someone wanted to use 1500 subdomains and domain alias them to a subdomain it could defeat the entire purpose of a domain limited system like we have with Semi Dedicated. So it is for subdomains, not aliases subdomains to give unlimited DOMAINS. :slight_smile: I have never seen anyone do this and trust most would not, but I am just pointing it out as one possible ‘flaw’ in our plans that have included domain limited servers for a couple years now.

Also as a benefit WinSD plans include MSSQL 2008 server space on a SD dedicated service. :clap2: (technically at moment this is only Cluster2 side, cluster1 SD is still SQL 2005 but dedicated to SD services)
Downside to it is that MSSQL2005 is made in automated way 2008 is made only via ticket manually. Customer choice; I guess.

one point of clarity.

WinSD1/2 available on Cluster1 AND Cluster2
LinuxSD1/2 is available on Cluster2

This is current availability, we have slots for both win/lin on Cluster2 and Windows on Cluster1.

Cool, thanks Stephen. I was going to ask about SQL.. is SQL db size allocation bundled with SD disk space, like it is for normal accounts now? So basically unlimited SQL db’s, just limited by disk space on the SD plan?

I’m interested in this SD. but first would like to ask, is it possible the account got suspended due to “excessive cpu usage” kind of thing?

I have 1 pretty high traffic site currently on vps (outside) and searching for alternative.

In general no, if the thing was having totally bad code an unable to be isolated off and taking other sites down we’d do all we can to work with you and if it continued we’d let you know this may need more than any shared solution and a whole server may be needed. However in most cases we’ve found that it may just be a small segment of code making the problem.
