I am wondering if anyone is having problems installing Comodo certificates.
I have tried twice to get a certificate installed on a client domain.
Support has been very helpful in attempting to install as well but are also having a problem getting it to install correctly.
Twice I have generated a CSR, Private Key, and gotten certificates sent from Comodo.
If I install through the Control Panel I will receive a message that it has been installed OK but unfortunately it doesn’t see it as being a certificate from a trusted source since it keeps looking at the shared certificate that is used when SSL is first enabled and a signing request is made.
An Example of the error in IE as an example would be this:
There is a problem with this website’s security certificate.
The security certificate presented by this website was not issued by a trusted certificate authority.
The security certificate presented by this website was issued for a different website’s address.
I have been working on this (along with support) for 4 or 5 days and cannot get it to work…any thoughts?
Last couple SSL cert installs I had the same problem however, I sent the files (CSR, Cert etc) to support and they were able to manually install them without issues.
FYI, it was Akshay that was able to install them both times.
somehow this did not show as a new thread for me, SSL Certs with comodo of late have been a real pain! At least they are better than ipsCA whom we’d used for years, they are now issuing certs against an untrusted root that even with server side settings done still gives warnings in firefox, because they did not follow normal practice in change of a root cert.
Manish, Akshay and myself have all done this before, others may be able to do it as well, but I know the 3 of us can and have done it.
Myself and support are still struggling with this one. Most of the certs I use are from GoDaddy and those do not seem to be as much of a problem. Support has successfully helped me out numerous times with those.
This one is from Comodo however and apparently a different situation…they issue the cert in a zip file that contains a file in what is called a CER format. Supposedly a CER format is this:
“Typically, CER files contain the: Root, Intermediate and Domain Certificate all rolled into one whereas, CRT is just the certificate.”
I found instructions for IIS 5 and 6 here (which I also just forwarded to support)
Actually one follow-up. Is there any chance of fixing something in the H-Sphere control panels that would allow us to install certs again without bugging support? The big H-sphere upgrade broke something that worked at one time. If possible it would be great!
