Continued issues with web 6

Web 6 is going down on a daily basis with socket errors. You guys had an announcement about it going down and then back up again yesterday.

Question - are there are plans to fix this server so that it is not continually going down?

I am really tired of getting calls from my customers who actually use their web sites.

The reliability that I am receiving here is now as bad as the last host that I left and I left them for the same reason.

Oh, one more thing - please do not tell me to “open a ticket when this happens”. I have done that several times and have always gotten “we cannot find and trouble”.

I still cannot believe that you do not have anything internally that tells you when these servers go down.

Update: Web 6 went down again with a socket error as I was writing this. I had to tell akshay on chat that it was down because they did not know.

We apologize for all incovenience caused by this.We are monitoring the server to isolate the issue. We’d like to assure you that this problem will be fixed permanently as we have already found 2 bad scripts from a user which were abusing system resources and now they are stopped and finally web6 is better now.

It is not better though.

I have 2 sites with identical WordPress setups. One here at Jodohost and the other at another web host.

The difference between load times is significant between the 2 and can be measured in seconds.

If this is the best that I can expect from Jodo I need to know so that I can do what I need to so that my customer can have the performance that they pay for.

hrm, I am using fasterfox page load timer and even with DNS lookup your site on web6 is loading in 1.489 seconds for me.
Also I’d like to point out while we monitor the server, we can not monitor every site on the server, we monitor php/html loads and database page loads. They also have a 1 minute check intreval so it is possible to have a page not work one time and it not be a sustained problem, and no alerts are thrown as it is between checks.

The comparison that I am making is between these 2 sites -

dan.idano - The Personal Site of Dan Masters

Round Rock Web Design ? Home

The second site which is on a different host actually has more complicated php coding then the dan.idano.net site yet dan.idano.net site loads considerably slower.

Oh, before you say “there is more text/content on the dan.idano.net site” this is true but any page that you click on in either site frontend or back shows that roundrockwebdesign.com loads considerably faster then dan.idano.net.

All I need is a word from you guys that this is the best that I can expect from you or “there is an issue here” so that I can decide what I need to do.

Another note - the downtime that I am talking about is not an individual site issue. Every time my site is down I go to your server status page to see what it says. Every time it either has a really high response time or there is a socket error on the server. That socket error will be there up to 5 minutes before it goes away and during that time all 20 of my sites that are on that server are not accessible.

Finally - I really dread the fact that I have had to investigate, argue, and try to convince you guys that there is an issue with this server. I get the standard “we are monitoring it” line every time but yet I am the one that has to tell you guys it is down. It is obvious that your method of monitoring is not working unless it is “we will monitor to see if a customer complains”. If that is the case then I guess it is working just fine.

P.S. If I sound pissed off it is because I am. You are not the one that gets the phone calls from my customers daily (now) because their sites are down. I came to Jodo because I was told that you guys has quality hosting and boasted a 99.9% uptime. I am mad because I am not getting what you advertised and am no assurance that you are trying to live up to what you sold me.

few things to keep in mind, we have many servers, becasue one server is having code abuse(and no sites have been added to it recently) it does not mean all servers are down. Deepak and the unix side will watch for abuse on the server and try to prevent problems.
There was an issue of abuse on this server just yesterday where someone was flooding it with requests in an attempt to crash the server by filling the swap space. The issue is being looked into to prevent it from happening again, remember in shared hosting sometimes the control is less than a dedicated. We are working to resolve the matter, and yes that page is loading slower for me, neight page is loading in less than 3 seconds but the dan. is taking 5.4

I was going to the domain without the name prefix, and it is very speedy.

So maybe the solution is for me to be on a different server - Is that possible?

I will be honest, I want to continue to use you guys but I do not want to continue getting calls from my customers - it makes my head hurt and my head has been hurting for days now.

So how about a different server? Maybe I can set up a site temporarily on a different server to see if I can get better performance. How would I go about doing that?

with hsphere a server move can be done easily  Just send in a ticket and discuss it with them
