Is it just me (which is a distinct possibility–the whole world is picking on me these days 8o) but for the past week, it seems the control panels have been all but dying around 11:30PM Eastern.
In fact, as I write this, I’m unable to do a search on my customer accounts in the RCP or get into my service account. The thing has been loading for nigh on to 20 minutes now.
Is there something that happens around this time every night that affects the CPs?
Assuming this is your normal backup window, it’s been clobbering response times for a week that I’m aware.
To save myself frustration (since I’m often working at this time of day and later) and to save you the frustration of dealing with me when I’m frustrated , what is the backup window?
I beg to differ. It’s been nearly 45 minutes since I first started having problems. Two minutes ago, I tried to access my RCP and I’m still watching the little Web browser sitting there spinning…and spinning…and spinning.
So, if it’s not backups, then what? And you did say about 20 minutes ago to come back in 30 minutes, which implies that backups take more than 10 minutes…
The CP backup process lasts for between 10 to 30 minutes, and is performed every 24 to 48 hours.
It is not suppose to slow down the CP to a great extent but yes if a page loads in 2 seconds normally it make take 5 seconds during the backup phase.
However since we have received a few complaints today, we plan to monitor response times and loading more carefully during the next time and see if we can ensure this problem doesn’t happen again

Can you post a traceroute if possible. 45 minutes is too long and it’s not support to take that long.
Also please note that our staff is using the CP throughout the backup period, answering tickets etc. It does slow down, but it is 100% usable.
However once again since we have received complaints, we plan to look into this more closely. Backup is already over for today
The problem isnt really taking a long to load pages becasue I can’t usually get in at all during this time, once I try to log in, white screen hangs and goes no where on all panels including my main one for jodohost.
OK, we plan to investigtae this. That definately is a serious issue and the CP should not become unresponsive during backup. Once again we haven’t experienced this ourselves. If you notice, at jodopulse there is a CP monitor which actually loads the CP and reports back the response time to us. That has not picked up such a large problem and neither have we. I suspect that could be because we are already logged in when the process begins

I have reported this a couple of times via live chat and each time was told the backup was running and give it another 10 minutes or so. It is rather frustrating to wait up to 45 minutes… I believe it took this long once for me… or close to it.
Thank you for checking into this Yash… it would be great to not have this CP down time.
Actually I think the cp is only down during the pgSQL DB Vacuum process, I will need to ask Tanmaya, but I think that is when the CP is actually down, without the vacuum, the DB would be an utter mess and the whole CP would be dreadfully slow at ALL times.

Was anyone able to find a way to allow the CP to continue responding and not timeout during these periods?
This is happening again tonight, after 300am. I cannot get in panel once sign it, page hangs. Did you guys move the backup times to later in the morning??
The old times things are working good, now around this time I am having problems everynight.
