I’ve been unable to get into my RCP for over 20 minutes. I’m assuming that this is the nightly backup of the CP server.
I complained about poor CP response a while back and was told that backups were running and, while things might slow down a bit, transactions would go through. They didn’t but I didn’t have the energy to push the complaint.
It seems every night, somewhere’s between midnight and 3AM Eastern, the CPs just flat out stop responding. Since I do a lot of work at this time, it’s getting to be a serious problem.
Why does a server backup drive the box right into the ground? Last time I saw performance hits like this on backup was when a customer of mine tried backing up his server to an IDE tape drive and couldn’t understand why everything died on him for hours (no, really, honest–life is stranger than fiction!).
