Database Backups

Don’t know if you guys can help me but it doesn’t hurt to ask.

Unfortionately… one of my moderator accounts on a forum got hacked. (I’ve given the password talk since then) and a user was given super moderation rights.

1000s of posts were deleted… not super critical to me but I have several unhappy members.

Are older (week old) backups of databases available? And can they be restored to a different database or sent to me?

If so is there a charge for this?

Andy

there is some chance we can pull an old DB up from the grave to another DB
Please submit a ticket for this, include server it is on, db name, then go ahead and make a new DB as well with some new login info, and we will give a try at restoring, I know it can be restored its just a matter of user rights, if it was not having DBO owned tables tis going to take MANY hours of work to make the readable.

Thanks. Hopfully it will work. I created a new backup on the same server under the same account using the same Login. Hopefully that will work.

Even though my current DB should not be affected by this I still want to do a DTS data/structure copy before we try.

I got all but one backed up… the other one will have to wait until tonight because I seem to have to kick everyone out 1st.

So I’ll put in a request sometime tonight.

Andy

Andy, you can ask for the BAK file and work with it locally as well, that may be more managable for you in getting select items back.

Thats actually what I would like. I just need to pull about 600 rows out of the old and put it into the new.

You guys are fantastic. 2 backups given within an hour or so of putting in the ticket. The 1 I requested and the day before.

Thanks

Andy
