Digital Certificate question

A customer of mine is switching from using Paypal to using First Data Global for credit cards. He sent me the following question:

Do you know if your hosting service requires a Digital Certificate … here’s what First Data Global is telling me … I never had one for PayPal. What do yer think?

Your Digital Certificate

In order for you to begin accepting credit card payments, your ISP may require a
digital certificate to complete the setup of your store. This certificate should
be saved as a file on your Web server with a .pem extension.

To download your digital certificate, please use the Global Gateway Virtual
Terminal.

The email mentions ISP so that is throwing me off… and I haven’t had to do this with anyone so I am looking for some feedback here.

Thanks in advance for your time.

This may be so that the communications back to their servers work, this should work auto for any trusted cert and I’d imagine they are running a trusted certificate authority certificate so should be no issue

Thanks, that is what I was thinking, but wasn’t completely certain.
