I have had this problem on several sites over the past few months. A client’s disk quota & usage will show as “not available” in the CP. I can’t reset. I have to open a ticket, which at times like this during the migration can take a while to get resolved. In the meantime, my clients can be locked out of CMSes, prevented from uploading files, etc.
What is the cause of this or more importantly, can it be fixed permanently? Is there a way to fix this on my own without opening a ticket?
Is it Windows or Linux?
Also, does it really dis-allows file upload in case of quota set to 0?
For Linux, I’m already doing quotas differently on new servers, to ensure they don’t easily get corrupt.
In this case, Windows (wincf). Yes it’s happened on Linux too. Looking at my ticket history my perception of the time frame of this sort of problem is not accurate. I have tickets here and there over the past couple of years. So “past few months” isn’t quite right, sorry for overstating the severity here.
In this case, they received a ColdFusion error stating they were out of disk space (they’re actually using less than 100 MB out of an 800 MB quota) and were unable to log onto their CMS. The site itself remained available, though. Now that the quota problem is fixed, they can log onto their CMS again. I made no other changes, so I have to assume the quota issues was the cause.
My recollection is that in past cases, customers have been blocked from uploading files. But my tickets don’t say that. So, maybe that isn’t always the case. I guess I should keep better notes.
