DNS - Forum is my last resort

Hi Guys,

Any help will be gratefully received.

Earlier today my DNS servers stopped repsonding ns.largerabbit.com and ns2.largerabbit.com. All my sites and emails therefore stopped working.

I contacted live support several times and was told the following

live chat 1) My domain had expired. It hadn’t!!!

live chat 2) My domain entry had disappeared and would need to be recreated by a senior admin who would arrive in a few hours. Several hours later nothing had changed.

live chat 3) Upgrading was causing all my problems. ALL my sites and ALL my email were down for over 12 hours baecause of this.

I give up. Each time I contact support I get a different answer. DO I need to move my domains to a new ISP to sort this out?

I have had three pretty good years here, but today I am pulling my hair out.

Cheers,

Paul..

Need your ticket ID, but your nameservers are pointing to the wrong IPs.

We did an IP migration of 2 subnets in 2008, we sent a mail about it.
I don’t know how your nameservers have worked to this point, as the IPs have not been routed to use since Dec 08.

your IPs at your registrar need to be changed to the correct ones which are these:
ns.largerabbit.com → 204.14.109.27
ns2.largerabbit.com → 204.14.109.44

Here is the thread on it, we sent a similar mail to this to all.

http://support.jodohost.com/showthread.php?t=14262

this was the public notice, the email included this line at the bottom:
The two IP ranges being migrated are:
204.10.104.129-204.10.104.254
204.10.106.1-204.10.106.128

The old and new IPs will both respond for about 1 weeks time giving time to adjust to the new IP addressing.

Hello Customers,

Control panel service will not be available for 5 hours on Sunday Nov 16, 2008 at 12:30am EST(UTC-5).

This is because of below 2 activities that will be performed back to back:

  1. Hsphere Control Panel system database maintenance:
The purpose of this maintenance is to resolve intermittent slowness problem in control panel access.
We are also doing some hardware changes to resolve I/O related issues on the current hardware.

  2. IP migration:
We will be migrating a couple of our smaller subnets, only a total of 254 out of more than 6000IPs in use.
This is being done on urgent basis as they are causing intermittent network configuration problems.

The two IP ranges being migrated are:
204.10.104.129-204.10.104.254
204.10.106.1-204.10.106.128

The old and new IPs will both respond for about 1 weeks time giving time to adjust to the new IP addressing.

You can always contact JodoHost support team for any further information on this, and follow it on our forum at:

Hi Stephen,

Thanks, you are the first sane voice I have heard all day.
Ticket id was EFR-57927-459

I must have lost/not read the email re IP changes.

I will go change the ip’s at the registrar.

I don’t understand why the live chat people could not come up with this.

They are still tell me it is the upgrades causing the problems!!

Thanks,

Paul.

live chat has been a bit hectic today.

We have people coming on for the regular routine items happening, that we are working on, and then allof us are focused on fixing problems.

There were quite a few tickets like this after the IPs were removed from out network, so really its reasonable they thought it was upgrade.

We have also had a number of staff in the whole day/night including myself and we are starting to get tired, not trying to use as an excuse, but we have overlooked a few things I will admit

Thanks Stephen!!

I have updated my ip’s so hopefully it should filter through in a while.

Cheers,

Paul.

looks up for me now. I just got a moment to check it before trying to get an hours rest.

Thanks Stephen.

All sorted now. Sorry for missing the email re the IP changes.

Cheers,

Paul.

We mentioned it in the mass mail today, 2 other people missed that too  and we just found out that range was still routing to us till this weekend…so it was up till the update because we had not processed the removal. Hsphere update gladly did that for us. But it would not have mattered too much since it got moved on its routing as well.
