Email about network outage

You sent an email out today saying that there will be a scheduled network outage over the next 90 minutes. That’s to late notice!

I know you guys posted it on the forum 3 days ago but I don’t check the board every day (i hardly ever go to these forums).

I’ve asked this before, when you do a scheduled network maintenance, outage etc can you please send an email out a couple of days before? Not 1 second before you actually do the outage. It is very frustrating when my customers tell me that the servers are down. If i told them before hand it would be ok.

So please, give us a warning in an email a couple of days before. Not too much to ask i think…

The outage was actually for 5 minutes..
It was not 90 minutes..

However yes, a forum post was made and an email should have been dispatched earlier with the forum post. That wasn’t done and I actually thought someone had done this..

So yes, while we posted the notice 3 days prior, an email should have also gone out 3 days earlier.. I acknowledge that and apologise for that. The email customers received 15min prior to the outage is something we do prior to ever scheduled outage, as a followup..

I also recommend you subscribe to the network outages forum so you can receive all updates

I was actively trying to load a whole bunch of pages, including these forums and jodohost.com, during this outtage…

It was a lot long that 5 minutes yash… It was more like over an hour before things settled back and I was able to load all sites again.

Wheemer,

There was a total outage for a time, then some subnets were down as they moved and ARP was updated.
We posted a 90 minute period as each subnet was configured, and it took some time, then it ended up taking some additional time we did not anticipate.

You are correct that overALL, there were outages over an hour range, but no one subnet was ever down that long.
