Email Problems

Yesterday my mailer application was working great. Today I can’t send anything. What happened? I have had a ticket in all afternoon, but this is still not resolved #46543. I have a newsletter that must go out.

I have tried different components but none of them seem to work. Can anyone give me an update?

Nothing has changed on the server, I can actually see some emails from newsletter@ your domain have gone through in the logs.

I am checking into everything right now however.

They send properly, but I am not receiving them. I am sending tests to myself. Can the logs tell you if they have left the server yet?

Can you test it now?

I created a file called testaspmail###.asp(you can FTP to see the file name, and I will reply in ticket with it) using ASPemail that now works flawlessly.

You are free to change the code and send it to yourself, but I think I have the issue resolved.

You do need to use the server “localhost”

I replied to the ticket as well.

I can send to some test addresses outside the domain, but still cannot receive from addresses inside the domain.

OK,

I am looking into this now, that is odd.

Hi…

I’m not sure your problem related to my problem but my customer make a complaint about email downloading very slow within this a few days.

Normally they can download 1MB and above email without any problem to their PC but this few days if they download 1MB email, they have to take rest about 5 to 15 minutes to wait all email download to their PC.

What actually the problem around here, is it because of Mail Server Migration or other problem?

Thanks..

There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong with the new mail server, infact its faster and much more powerful.

Large attachments download pretty fast for me

Ask your customer to check with his ISP and send in a traceroute via a ticket. The mail server does not control transfer speeds, your ISP and your route to the server do.

I was noticing this problem starting a few days ago on Win6 with ASPMail and localhost. I have a form where visitors could send me an e-mail and they’d also get an e-mail stating that their message would be looked into soon. The message to them sent ok, but the one to me was unable to be relayed and so the visitor would get an undeliverable. I tried changing it to use mail.domain.com with SMTP Authentication but that didn’t help. I ended up changing my form to use my other hosting provider’s mail server using SMTP authentication.

Could you submit a ticket? We’ll look into it

It should not be like that

I went back and forth with a ticket regarding it already. I’m just glad I found a solution at this point.

I just threw in my two cents on it in case that information helps make the situation clearer and might help somebody else.

I’m also noticing a email seems a lot slower than before, not necesarilly in the downloads but just connecting to the server. Have quite a few email accounts, they used to get checked in a few seconds, not it takes about 3 minutes to check them all, most have no messages.

Same here, not three minutes, but slower than before the “upgrade”.

I’ve been noticing the “slower connect time” as well, although not as bad as 3 minutes.

That is because it scans connections for anti-spam. The connect delay is only a few seconds

Sorry for the confusion, the 3 minutes was to check all my mail addresses, it was about 10 seconds per email address, I noticed Yash posted that it has been resolved, I’ll have to check and see if anything has changed.

I guess this wasn’t exactly entirely true.

There was nothing wrong with the mail server. Its job is to serve incoming/outgoing email which it was doing. The connection delay issue was minor
