FTP going very slow for multiple servers and multiple customers experiencing the same

I have a client saying that the FTP downloading of a file is going like 1kb per second when it is normally MUCH faster. I have confirmed this is happening and it is happening on multiple servers.

My client also has customers calling him saying the same thing is happening to them.

Is there some sort of network issue or something causing problems?

hrm, can you give me servers? I am not seeing an issue from here, yesterday I was having packetloss but it was far outside our network and not something we could control :frowning:

Re: FTP going very slow for multiple servers and multiple customers experiencing the

It appeared to be multiple servers, but I am starting to see that it is a network related issue outside of JH. Things are starting to pick back up now.

Unless something else shows itself… this one is solved.

Ok, I spoke to someone else and he said he also seeing some incoming packetloss, of note is that outgoing seems fine with no issue at all, only some routes are seeing packetloss incoming. This is also only on the internap connection, the failover cogent line is working 100% for incoming(the only people that can use the cogent if it is not in failover however are people directly connected to cogent). We are working with internap now to nail this down and resolve it. Its been happening for 2 days as I noted in the last post, but today I am going a different route on my DSL and its not noticable at all, less than 1%, yesterday near atlanta I was seeing 40-50% packetloss.

wow it looks like the internet decided to light the christmas tree!

I am seeing 4 yellows and 5 reds here.

still a few yellows at times on the health report, but overall much better. Unless you are AT&T conection, its all red for every AT&T line.
AT&T is looking BAD: Digital Experience

Re: FTP going very slow for multiple servers and multiple customers experiencing the

I don’t see companies like Cox, Adelphia, or Comcast on here… are they not large enough or do they simply run on one of the companies listed on that site?

Re: FTP going very slow for multiple servers and multiple customers experiencing the

comcast use’s cogent’s network.
Most of these ISPs get bandwidth from these major bandwidth providers

Re: FTP going very slow for multiple servers and multiple customers experiencing the

Adelpha has some private network but most of theirs is global crossing and cogent as well.
Comcast uses cogent, as well as some sprint when I was in Miami using them(oh what terrible service!)

Cox actually has a very large private network, of all these providers probably the largest but they peer with Broadwing, XO, AT&T and Level3 from what I have seen.

Verizon uses some private network and then it goes to level3 or Alternet(MCI/UUNET) which is now owned by them.
